Sneak peek at the first LAX LAB 2.0 climate fiction book club read

Are you getting curious about what might be the first LAX LAB 2.0 climate fiction book club pick?

The time to announce the first book in the LAX LAB 2.0 climate fiction book club is soon approaching. Are you excited?

Before officially announcing our first read, I would like to entice you with a few hints. Can you recognise our first book from the following clues?

Our first book is both a work of speculative fiction and an alternate history, playing with multiple times and timelines. Speculative fiction imagines what might be while alternate histories imagine what might have been.

Our first book is originally written in French and has been translated into English. Language is an important part of the book; explicitly as part of the plot and implicitly as a translated work of fiction. If you are a French speaker, you are most welcome to read it in the original language.

Our first book is written by a woman. Children and community feature prominently in this story of an uncertain future plagued by pollution, poverty, and legacies of racism.

Our first book is described as poetic and magical, post-apocalyptic yet with tinges of hope. It is a story of survival and a mediation on the lives of cities and its citizens, offering “a vision of intergenerational healing”.

Do you recognise the book?

Not to worry if you don’t. The title and author will be revealed shortly and you can soon get to reading!
